Foreign arrivals up in Ha Noi

Ha Noi welcomed nearly 1.9 million foreign visitors this year, up 11 per cent over last year, according to the capital city's Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

The capital city saw remarkable year-on-year increases in the number of tourists from China (19 per cent), Australia, (28 per cent), South Korea (22 per cent) and Japan (13 per cent).

Domestic visitors to Ha Noi this year also increased by 10 per cent, reaching 11.66 million, the department said.

HCM City to plant more trees

HCM City will plant trees on an additional area of 15.11ha next year. Of these, about 10,000 trees will be planted along key traffic routes like the East West highway – Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Thu Thiem tunnel and Ha Noi highway, said the city's Department of Transport.

Thousands of other trees will be planted at streets along rivers, parks and public places.

The city also plans to regreen an area of more than 12ha, it said.
