HCM CITY — His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, who lives in India, and about 130 followers of his lineage that started 800 years ago in Tibet, held a grand requiem for martyrs and victims of natural disasters at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda in HCM City yesterday.

The ceremony attracted members of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha's Executive Council, members of the Sangha's HCM City chapter and more than 5,000 Buddhist followers.

On behalf of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha, the Most Venerable Thich Duc Nghiep expressed his delight at the presence of his Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa.

Gyalwang Drukpa stressed the importance of holding the grand requiem and said that he and the Drukpa Sangha wholeheartedly wished for Viet Nam to become more stable and prosperous.

The delegation will remain in Viet Nam until tomorrow, with activities scheduled in Ha Noi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Quang Ninh, among other provinces. — VNS
